world heritage sites and to the Covered Bazaar, the city's
oldest and most famous shopping mall.
The street (a continuation of Dizdariye Cesme Sokak)
has no through traffic and is a easy 5-10 minute walk to
the Hippodrome, the Blue Mosque and Haghia Sophia as
well as to the Bazaar, situated midpoint between the
Sultanahmet and Cemberlitas tramway stations. The
neighborhood is a working class residential area
consisting primarily of apartment buildings dating from
the 1960s dotted with small manufacturing workshops --
while safe, this is not an upscale or touristic area despite
its close proximity to Istanbul's most famed historic sites.
